I know it's mostly a product of the Stance crowd, which I'm not endorsing (it's fine if you dig, dig?), but I just think it adds to the ruggedness of the brand.

They're have been some pretty heated arguments in the past about roof racks on cars that aren't presently being used to haul shit around. Some members of our community absolutely hate it when something is placed on a car for anything except function. Which, a roof rack serves on occasion.

To those people, fuck you, cos it's about to get HELLAROOFRACK UP INS !

Ours just has the round bars on. It's hard to see, but they definitely improve the look.

If this is all this STI carries on its roof rack, then jimmies rustled. I don't understand the draw of a roof rack if all you carry is your tire that can fit into the spare cutout in under the trunk area. I feel like some WRX owners buy a bike solely for the fact they can then put a roof rack on their car.

My favorite of the bunch you posted is the Impreza with the skybox, at least I know that individual uses their Subaru for, you know, Subaru things and not scraping on leaves in parking lots.

I have a roof rack that I used to use solely for car shows/meets. Sportier wheels and a spoiler made me remove it though.

It's for looks. I don't get why people drive around with them and not use them but if you're doing a photo op or car show, they can make a car look more offroady/adventurous. If you're just driving around with it then idk.

What's not to understand? It's for aesthetic purposes.

Also, that spare cut-out only fits the OEM space saver, which is only useful for the OEM wheels and tires. If you've upgraded and have gone bigger using that tire will damage the drivetrain.

Yeah, for my A4, it costs around $400 for the Base support+Rack

For the aaerodynamic one, it costs $600. Which is crazy expensive, I might poke around Thule for more options.

Yet another indication of how far Ford has come here recently.

I keep seeing posts with Ford's and decades of training (and owning two Fords) have instilled and instinctual "But, yea Ford. What good does a roof rack do on a boring, numb car that breaks down all the time?"
